Privacy Policy

How we collect, use, and protect your data — including health and AI-generated data.

Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data zapp.fit collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

1. Data We Collect

  • Account: name, email, authentication identifiers, and profile settings such as height, weight, birth date, and language preference.
  • Meal inputs: photos (which may contain metadata such as timestamp and GPS location), audio recordings, and text you submit for nutritional analysis.
  • Nutrition data: AI-generated calorie counts, macro and micronutrient estimates, meal history, and streaks.
  • Health data: activity metrics such as steps, calories burned, distance, and heart rate — read from your device's health platform with your explicit permission.
  • Water intake: daily water logs you record in the app.
  • AI memory: preferences, dietary restrictions, and behavioral patterns extracted from your conversations with the AI coach, stored to personalize future responses.
  • Device & usage: truncated IP address, device type, app version, and usage events for reliability and analytics.

2. How We Use Data

  • Deliver AI-powered meal analysis and nutrition coaching.
  • Personalize your experience using meal history, goals, and AI memory.
  • Provide analytics, trend reports, and streak tracking.
  • Authenticate and secure your account.
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions.
  • Monitor and improve service reliability.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data.

3. Sharing & Third-Party Processors

We share data with trusted third-party service providers only as needed to operate the service, including: AI analysis providers (meal image and audio analysis is processed by third-party AI services under data-protection agreements), cloud hosting and database providers, payment processors, analytics providers, and error monitoring services. We do not share your data for advertising purposes on the web platform. We may disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights.

4. Health Data

Health data (steps, calories, heart rate, distance) is a sensitive category. We access it only with your explicit permission and use it solely to provide context to your AI nutrition coach. It is not shared for advertising, not sold, and not used for any purpose beyond your coaching experience. You can revoke health platform access at any time in your device settings.

5. Photos & EXIF Metadata

Photos you upload may contain embedded metadata including timestamps and GPS coordinates. This metadata may be used to contextualize your meal log (e.g., local time and date). If you prefer, you can disable location metadata in your camera app before capturing photos for the service.

6. AI Processing

When you submit a photo or audio for analysis, your content is transmitted to third-party AI providers for processing. These providers act as data processors under our agreements and do not use your content to train public AI models. Processed results (nutrient estimates, transcripts) are returned to us and stored; raw photos are not retained after analysis.

7. Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access is restricted by role. We use monitoring to detect anomalies. No system is perfectly secure — please report vulnerabilities to security@zapp.fit.

8. Retention

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, personal data, meal history, AI memories, and health data are removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for service improvement.

9. Your Rights

You may access, correct, or export your data; request account and data deletion; withdraw health platform access at any time; or request deletion of your AI memory without closing your account. Contact privacy@zapp.fit to exercise these rights. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have additional rights under GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

10. Children

zapp.fit is not intended for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

11. Changes

We may update this policy. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. The "last updated" date reflects the most recent revision.
